By virtue of working on a technology that is not currently available, we have to look at other future technologies.
We went ahead and wrote a bit on the topic and I hope you enjoy reading it.
This is a version of what Rick developed while working for Deep Space Industries.
We worked with asteroid regolith and simulants and we needed ways to measure lightness/darkness of minerals and how they changed with processing.
We tried a few different methods, and they didn't work very well. So I came up with this.
It features a range of shades, it has color because much of the regolith is purely greyscale and the color elements give a good reference for the eye and for cameras and later editing.
Just cut the circle out inside the lines. There is plenty of colored material in case your cutting is not exactly right.
In a sense, this albedo approximator is the ultimate in White Papers.
Enjoy.
